Dwarf Figures

I have finally gotten around to taking and putting up pictures of my new troops.  In fact, it is a mix of dwarves, made by Light Alliance and trolls and giants, made by Eagle Games in their Age of Mythology Figure Pack.  All the figures are well sculpted, but the Eagle Games ones are, as board game peices, not 1/72 scale, meaning the Troll is only a few centimeters over the dwarves heads, so the humans from Eagle Games are only about the Dwarves size.  This creates a problem, meaning that I may use the humans as dwarves, as they would not be good humans, however, they are not what you would consider dwarf proportions.  I must say that they are not very well painted, possibly I did not put enough primer on.  I will only have pictures of the best looking ones on here.
A Group Shot and the Box.
All the Dwarf Poses.

A Few Troops.  I really like the red cape on the one in the center.

Some spearmen.

An Eagle Games Troll.

Some Eagle Games Dwarves, to be used as Engineers.

All the Troops, in a box.  The unpainted ones are Eagle Games humans.

In other news, having been to the library on Saturday, I picked up 2010: Odyssey Two and 2061: Odyssey Three, both of which I have already read twice, Philip K. Dicks Divine Invasion, and Edgar Rice Burroughs Pirates of Venus.  I have finished 2010 and now I believe I know why I keep coming back to that series, however old it gets and however many times I read it.  It seems that anytime you read them, you get a sense of awe and amazement at space in general.  It also seems that he makes humans really look small and primitive, or it could be that throughout the books, you feel that the human race and its people have changed.

An Update

I have had a good week, I have joined The Minatures Page (TMP).  Loaded Civilization III and even reloaded  the Battlegroup 42 mod for Battlefield 1942.  It is a great mod because you can play as Australians, Netherlanders, and even the K.M.T.!  In Civilization, I played the Fall of Rome scenario, eventually I hope to run a Nationgame with a Migration age P.O.D., so there could be Franco-Saxons, Hispogoths, or Scottish Goths.  After finishing The Machine Crusade about a week after I started it, I have no major ideas stemming from it.  In the meantime, while waiting for my birthday, in hopes of some Warzone Bauhaus Troops I am drawing Space Creatures (Ratmen and Dogmen.).  I will attempt to scan them and upload them.

Many Topics

I know I haven't been posting here lately, but I still am planning to do so soon and making plans for buying the figures from Pendraken.

The First topic is that Victoria 2: A House Divided comes out tommorow!  I probably wont get it right away, but considering it is an expansion for a strategy game, it could probably be found pretty cheap for download somewhere.  If this had happened a few months ago I would not have cared at all, but fortunately I have come back to Victoria 2 and played a few games, one with america up until the late 1860s!  Almost a record long time for me.  Anyway I hope the expansion encourages German conquest of Schleswig-Holstein and adds many new nations including some Mexican ones!

The second topic are a few new ideas for wargaming.  They have come from books and media that I have seen recently.  The first idea is Peshawar Lancers wargaming, of which I have recently read the book, it probably could be done with 10mm, you could probably use native troops from the Northwest Frontier and Boers and well as W.W.1 Australians for Imperial Angrezi forces and just Northwest Frontier Bandits for their enemy's.  Unfortunately you would have to watch out for those pith helmets, a shame if you ask me, I rather like them.  The second idea I came up with is a game based off of the Harry Turtledove book Agent of Byzantium, you could probably use early 1400s Byzantines for the Byzantines, and Generic European barbarians for the Franco-Saxons, they only problem is that for the Franco-Saxons there would have to be some sort of distinguishing symbols so you know they were not just generic European barbarians, maybe a Cock on the flag, or a cockade.  The third idea is from another harry Turtledove series, The T.L.-191 W.W.1 books, but these are already explained below in the post entitled "Christmas".  For some reason I also think it would be cool to get some Star Wars risk Gammoreons and paint them as pigmen.

The final area to talk about is my Pendraken miniatures order, I will order it but I just haven't found the time to decide what I want and then buy it, because I have a rather busy schedule with school and pesky math homework then I have to practice the Tuba, leaving me very little other time.  Anyway I had to cut down my plan for the Orcs&Foblins army to be infantry as 5 men and cavalry as 3 men.  Hopefully that will reduce costs enough to let me buy a second army, which brings me to another point.  See, at first I was thinking of a Dwarf army to fight the Orcs&Goblins, but now I realized I could but Egyptians for a lower price and get theri monsters from  Eagle Games and other sets, that would possibly leave me room to buy a few TL-191 W.W.1 test sets.

Also, no school tomorrow so I definitely will try to update some sets that are partially painted and maybe even get my order sent!
